Ironing your dress shirts can be a tricky task, but with a little practice you can have the process down pat.
1. Read the Shirt Tag
Check the dress shirt tag to see which temperature and fabric setting you should be using. If no tag is present and you are in doubt, start at the lowest heat setting possible as you do not want to burn the shirt.
2. The Collar
Start by flipping out the collar and removing any collar stay if present. Lay the back of the shirt collar flat against the board and iron with smooth but brisk strokes. Once done the back side turn the collar around and do the front as well.
3. The Sleeves
Slip the front of one of the sleeves over the iron board tip until it is all on there. Try to remove any wrinkles with your hand and fingers and then gently but quickly iron the sleeve. Repeat this process with the back end of the same sleeve, and then do the other sleeve.
4. The Dress Shirt Body
Place the dress shirt back on top of the iron board focusing on the shoulder portion. Now iron downwards towards the tail of the shirt. Once you are done the one side flip the dress shirt over and iron the other side in the same fashion (from the shoulder down towards the tail).
5. Hang Immediately
Hang the shirt immediately after ironing to ensure no wrinkles occur. We recommend doing up the two top buttons as this will help keep your dress shirt from forming wrinkles while hung.
You know have a beautifully pressed shirt ready to wear. May it be to impress your date or the boss you are sure to please.
